Police in the UK have launched an investigation following the circulation of video footage allegedly showing a female prison guard, Linda De Sousa Abreu, 31, engaging in a sexual act with an inmate at HMP Wandsworth.
The video, widely shared on social media, purportedly shows Abreu in uniform involved in a sexual encounter with an unidentified prisoner inside a jail cell. Another inmate filmed the incident using a mobile phone, capturing a television and piles of clothes in the background.
In the footage, the inmate recording the act is heard saying, “Guys we’ve made history, this is what I’m telling you.” When someone attempts to enter the cell, the filmer requests a moment before continuing to record.
Later, the same inmate directs his friend to proceed, turns the camera to his face, and remarks, “This is how we roll in Wandsworth. You know you’re gangster innit!”
While the exact date of the incident remains unclear, reports indicate that Abreu is no longer employed at the prison.
A spokesperson for HMP Prison Service addressed the matter, stating, “Staff corruption is not tolerated, and the former prison officer allegedly featured in this video has been reported to the police. It would be inappropriate to comment further while they investigate.”
The Metropolitan Police confirmed awareness of the video, stating, “A police investigation is underway. At this early stage, no arrests have been made. We are in close contact with the Ministry of Justice.”
