The Nigeria Police have arrested a prankster known as ZFancy for allegedly making videos where he was accused of serious crimes like rape and rituals.
ZFancy, who has been in the spotlight before, claimed these videos were scripted and meant to get attention again.
His explanation caused mixed reactions from Nigerians at home and abroad, with many criticizing him for joking about such a serious social issue.
On June 16, 2024, entertainer Dami Adenuga posted a video featuring a woman named Kokina, who said ZFancy had used ritualism in a prank involving her missing friend.
The video caught the attention of the Nigeria Police, who urged Kokina to go to the nearest police station and file a report, which led to an investigation.
Sekyen Ariya, also known as @Seky_Posh on Instagram, shared a tearful video telling her alleged scary experience with ZFancy.
She said a member of ZFancy’s team offered her a job and a photoshoot for N100,000. After encouragement from her friend Kokina, Seky called back and found out the job was for ZFancy. She said she was told to bring a friend to the shoot on the mainland.
Kokina couldn’t go, so Seky took another friend, Bella. She tearfully said ZFancy’s crew picked them up in a black Benz with tinted windows in Costain, Lagos, where she saw ZFancy. She said she suddenly felt confused and woke up undressed in a public place, surrounded by people. She said she was thankful to be safe but worried because Bella was missing, and her mother couldn’t reach her.
After Seky’s video went viral, the police confirmed they had arrested ZFancy in connection with the incident.
