American Teen Dies in Electrified Lake During July 4th Celebrations

Tragedy struck as an 18-year-old Colorado teen, Jesse Hamric, lost his life after diving into an electrified lake. The incident occurred at Smith Mountain Lake, just outside Roanoke, Virginia, during the American Independence celebrations on July 4th.

Hamric’s friends, who were with him at the time, noticed something was wrong immediately after he dove into the water. They bravely jumped in after him, only to experience electric shocks themselves. Despite sustaining injuries, they managed to pull Hamric out of the water, according to reports by WDBJ. While one friend called for emergency assistance, another performed CPR on Hamric.

Rescue teams arrived promptly and rushed Hamric to the hospital, but tragically, he did not survive. Two of his friends who attempted the rescue sustained minor injuries.

Following the incident, fire crews conducted an investigation. An official from the Smith Mountain Lake Marine Volunteer Fire Rescue Dive Team confirmed the presence of electrical currents in the water. These currents were traced back to stray voltage emanating from a dock at a nearby private residence. Authorities have ruled out foul play in Hamric’s death, as reported by ABC13.
