A 23-year-old man named Samson allegedly stabbed his mother to death in Obiaruku, Delta State. The incident happened after she scolded him for smoking early in the morning.
Eyewitnesses reported that Samson’s elder brother, who has sickle cell disease, alerted neighbors when he heard the commotion. They found the victim in a pool of blood inside their locked compound and intervened to stop Samson from further harming his mother.
A video circulating on social media showed Samson holding the knife believed to have been used in the attack.
According to a relative, Samson had returned to Obiaruku after moving to Asaba for vocational training. He allegedly started using drugs, which affected his mental health. His mother had taken him to a traditional mental health facility for treatment.
The Delta State Police Command confirmed Samson’s arrest in connection with the incident.
