Just one day after the tragic school building collapse in Jos, Plateau State, another building disaster has struck the nation’s capital.
A two-storey residential apartment in Kubwa, Abuja, collapsed on Saturday morning, trapping numerous individuals.
The building, formerly a hotel and later a hospital, was converted into residential units after the hospital ceased operations. Emergency responders and security personnel have arrived at the scene but rescue efforts have been hampered by the absence of necessary cranes.
Two individuals have been rushed to a nearby hospital, while others managed to escape the building. A witness, who requested anonymity, described hearing cracking sounds before fleeing the building.
The incident comes on the heels of the devastating school collapse in Jos, which claimed the lives of at least 22 people.
