Gunmen on Wednesday, July 10, abducted a driver and 18 passengers traveling on an Akwa Ibom State Transport Corporation bus bound for Port Harcourt.
The incident occurred along the Azumini border between Akwa Ibom and Abia states.
Eyewitnesses reported that the bus was ambushed shortly after departing the Uyo terminal, near Iwukem in Etim Local Council Area. The assailants, who opened fire before seizing the victims, remain unidentified.
Confirming the incident, Akwa Ibom State Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Timfon John, stated that the police are actively monitoring the situation.
