The Federal Government has initiated a food relief program to alleviate the ongoing food crisis in Nigeria.
A total of 20 trucks of rice have been distributed to each of the 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory. Each truck contains 1,200 bags of 25kg rice.
Information Minister Mohammed Idris made this announcement on Monday following a Federal Executive Council meeting. He stated that the rice is intended for distribution to vulnerable Nigerians by the state governments.
Idris emphasized that this is the first phase of the government’s efforts to address the food shortage and alleviate the hardships faced by Nigerians. He assured the public that the federal government will continue to support states and local governments in their efforts to combat the crisis.
