Kenyan authorities have apprehended a 33-year-old man suspected of being a serial killer responsible for the murders of at least 42 women. The suspect, identified as Collins Jumaisi Khalusha, was arrested early Monday morning in Nairobi.
The gruesome discovery of multiple dismembered female bodies in plastic bags at a Mukuru slum garbage site prompted the investigation. To date, nine bodies have been recovered.

Acting Inspector General of Police, Douglas Kanja, described the suspect as a “psychopathic serial killer” with a complete disregard for human life. The Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) head, Mohamed Amin, echoed these sentiments, likening the suspect to a “vampire” and a “psychopath.”
Khalusha confessed to murdering 42 women between 2022 and July 11, 2024. Disturbingly, his first victim was allegedly his own wife, whom he strangled and dismembered before disposing of her body at the same dumping site.

Police tracked down the suspect using a victim’s mobile phone and arrested him while attempting to lure another victim. A search of his residence, located near the crime scene, yielded a machete, ropes, gloves, and items belonging to women.
Authorities have launched a thorough investigation into the case and are conducting autopsies on the recovered bodies. A second suspect has also been arrested in connection with the crimes.
The Independent Police Oversight Authority is investigating potential police involvement in the case, given the proximity of the crime scene to a police station.
