A French soldier on duty at Gare de l’Est station in Paris was stabbed in an attack on Monday.
The soldier, part of the Sentinelle force tasked with domestic security, suffered a knife wound between the shoulder blades but is in stable condition.
The attacker, a French-born man from the Democratic Republic of Congo, was arrested at the scene. Authorities are investigating the motive for the attack, which occurred just ten days before the start of the Paris Olympic Games.
Interior Minister Gerald Darmanin confirmed the incident and the soldier’s condition, while police sources reported the suspect’s alleged statements about being Christian and shouting “God is great.”
There’s an attempt to portray Christians in a negative light.
