Umar Babagana Zulum, the son of Borno State Governor Babagana Umara Zulum, has been arrested in India after an alleged altercation at a nightclub resulted in a fatality.
Investigative journalist PIDOM Nigeria reported on Twitter that Zulum allegedly killed a man with a bottle during the incident.
Indian authorities currently have Zulum in detention. Sources close to the investigation claim that both the Indian government and the family of the deceased are seeking justice and refuse to downplay the incident.
Allegedly, attempts to resolve the situation through monetary compensation and diplomatic channels have been unsuccessful.
A Twitter handle with the name Faruq Ballama has refuted these allegations, calling them “false and malicious rumors.” However, PIDOM Nigeria is maintaining the validity of their reports. Demands are growing for Umar Zulum to make a public statement or video appearance to address the accusations directly.
