Gunmen abducted eight people, including a naval officer, from the Classic Point Hotel in Ibaka, Mbo Local Government Area of Akwa Ibom State on Monday night, July 15th, 2024.
Timfon John, spokesperson for the State Police Command, confirmed the incident and stated that Commissioner of Police, Waheed Ayilara, immediately led a team of security personnel to the community. John assured the public that the Commissioner’s visit and strategic actions are underway to restore normalcy.
She said: “When the police got the information, the Commissioner of Police, CP Waheed Ayilara, led a team of security personnel to the community. I assure you that with that visit by the CP and other strategic approaches, normalcy will return.”
