In a move shaking California’s tech scene, entrepreneur Elon Musk announced the relocation of his companies, SpaceX and X, from the state.
The decision comes after California Governor Gavin Newsom signed a law barring schools from requiring teachers to notify parents of a student’s change in gender identity.
Musk, known for his outspoken personality, took to X, the social media platform he acquired last year, to express his disapproval of the new law. He called it the “final straw” and blamed it, along with other unspecified policies, for his decision to move headquarters to Texas.

The move represents a significant loss for California, as both SpaceX and X are major employers and economic drivers within the state. SpaceX, a leader in the aerospace industry, has its current headquarters in Hawthorne, California. X, a prominent social media platform, is headquartered in San Francisco.
