A group of suspected bandits launched an attack in Kasuwar Magani, Kaduna State, on Tuesday, July 16th, 2024.
The victims, all residents of Tudun Wada, Zaria, were returning from their farms when they were targeted.
Among those abducted are a prominent public figure, Malam Sama’ila Sahabi (pictured), a lecturer at the Federal College of Education, Zaria, along with his younger brother, Sidi (Aliyu) Sahabi, and two others.
Tragically, the attack resulted in the death of Mohammed Bashir (Govinda), Chairman of the Tudun Wada, Zaria Butchers Association.
Family members suspect an informant may have tipped off the bandits, as they reportedly traced the victims to their homes and inquired about specific individuals by name.
Malam Musa Sahabi, a brother to two of the victims, said: “From the information we received, the attack was the handiwork of an informant.
“The bandits traced the victims to their rooms after they returned from the farm and started asking for the whereabouts of one of the victims by calling his name.“This shows that they came purposely to kidnap them, since they were calling names.”
The deceased was buried in Zaria on Wednesday.
