Yesterday, it was reported that Umar Zulum Umara, the son of Governor Babagana Umara Zulum of Borno State, was arrested in India for his involvement in a fatal altercation.
The Indian government and the family of the deceased are seeking justice and refuse to downplay the incident. Governor Babagana Umara Zulum has made attempts to resolve the situation through monetary compensation and diplomatic channels, all of which have been unsuccessful.
It has been confirmed that Umar Babagana Zulum did indeed kill a man in India during a fight over a woman at a nightclub. The deceased was a Chinese national.
Umara, a student at a university in New Delhi, reportedly smashed a bottle of alcoholic drink on the Chinese man who was interested in the same lady as the governor’s son.
According to SaharaReporters, the incident occurred two weeks ago. Governor Zulum, along with the governors of Adamawa and Yobe states, was in Pakistan attending a post-insurgency workshop at the time.
SaharaReporters also mentioned that this incident mirrors history, as the governor himself had killed a man during a fight when he was the same age as his son.
