Tinubu Approves N70,000 Minimum Wage, Promises Regular Reviews

President Bola Tinubu has endorsed a new minimum wage of N70,000 for Nigerian workers, with a commitment to review the national minimum wage law every three years.

Mohammed Idris, Minister of Information, announced this decision at the Presidential Villa on Thursday, July 18, during an ongoing meeting with leaders of organized labor unions.

Present at the meeting were key figures such as Comrade Joe Ajaero, President of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), and Comrade Festus Usifo, President of the Trade Union Congress (TUC), along with several union members. Previously, the labour leaders had advocated for a minimum wage of N250,000.
