A 72-year-old man, Patrick Ukpenor, has been remanded in prison custody by an Ikeja Chief Magistrates’ Court for allegedly sexually assaulting a six-year-old girl.
Magistrate E. Kubrinhe ordered Ukpenor to be remanded at Kirikiri Correctional Centre until August 13 for trial.
The court, as reported by the News Agency of Nigeria, did not allow Ukpenor to enter a plea after the charges were read.
According to the prosecutor, Insp John Iberedem, the offence occurred on July 4 at Amutu Street, Ilasamaja, Lagos, where Ukpenor allegedly sexually assaulted the young girl.
