A mother and her young son have been found shot dead in the Amalinda area of East London, South Africa. The victims have been identified as 44-year-old Asanda Gantsa and her 10-year-old son, Indiphile.
The tragic discovery was reported to have occurred on July 17th near CTM in Amalinda. Asanda’s body was found in the driver’s seat of her grey Toyota Yaris, while Indiphile was found lying on the pavement next to the car on the passenger side. Both victims reportedly suffered fatal gunshot wounds.
The advocacy group Women For Change issued a statement on July 22nd expressing their condolences and highlighting the incident.
Police have confirmed they are investigating the case as two separate murders. No arrests have been made at this time.
