A somber ceremony was held on Monday, July 22nd, in Bulawayo, Zimbabwe, for a Nketa High School student who tragically ended her life.
The Form Four (SS2) student’s death is believed to be linked to emotional distress caused by her boyfriend’s rejection of responsibility for her pregnancy.
The student, whose name is being withheld out of respect for the family’s privacy, reportedly confided in her boyfriend, an Upper Six (SS3) student at the same school, about her pregnancy. However, he allegedly refused to acknowledge the situation.
According to police reports, the student left home on July 12th under the pretense of attending extra lessons. She was later seen entering her boyfriend’s residence.
Concerned about her absence, her aunt discovered her hanging from a guava tree in their yard. Emergency services arrived promptly, but she was pronounced dead at the scene.
