Herbalist Arrested for Murdering Friend to Create Ritual Soap for ‘Yahoo Boys’

A 50-year-old herbalist, Kehinde Ganiyu, has been arrested for the murder of his Ghanaian friend, Emmanuel Collins. Ganiyu allegedly killed Collins by slitting his throat to create ritual soap intended for internet fraudsters, commonly known as ‘Yahoo boys.’

The incident occurred last Thursday in Oba-Oke, within the Olorunda Local Government Area of Osun State. The Osun State Police Command has paraded Ganiyu, with Police Public Relations Officer Yemisi Opalola revealing that the suspect was found in possession of several incriminating items. These included four blood-stained knives, a chisel, two gourds, a wooden traditional pot containing black soap, two sponges with black soap, a traditional tray (Opon Ifa), and various local charms.

During a press briefing on Friday, July 26, Ganiyu confessed to the crime, admitting that he killed Collins to prepare ritual soap. He explained, “I visited my friend Emmanuel Collins because he was sick. While he was in bed, I took a knife and cut his throat. I used his body parts to make ritual money soap for Yahoo boys.”

Ganiyu, who identified himself as both an herbalist and a farmer, further admitted, “I used to prepare such rituals for Yahoo boys, but they typically provided the human parts. This time, I sourced the part myself. I regret my actions, as I also attended his burial. However, suspicion and police investigation led to my arrest. I can’t believe I killed my longtime friend.”
