Despite qualifying for the final of the men’s 4x400m relay at the Paris 2024 Olympics, Team Nigeria has been disqualified.

The quartet of Emmanuel Ojeli, Ezekiel Nathanial, Dubem Amene, and Chidi Okezie initially secured their spot by finishing second in their heat with a season’s best time.

However, a lane violation during the heat led to the team’s disqualification. A Nigerian runner was deemed to have stepped on another competitor’s lane, causing a South African athlete to trip. As a result, South Africa has replaced Nigeria in the final.
