In the early hours of Friday, August 9, French police arrested an Egyptian Olympic wrestler in Paris on suspicion of sexual assault.
The incident reportedly took place outside a café in the French capital, where the wrestler is alleged to have touched another customer’s buttocks, according to a statement from the Paris prosecutor’s office.
The wrestler, who has not been named, was taken into custody following the alleged incident. An investigation has been initiated to examine the circumstances surrounding the accusation.
A senior official from the Egyptian Olympic delegation stated that they were unaware of the arrest and, therefore, could not provide any comment on the matter.
