EndBadGovernance Protests Cost Nigeria N500 Billion – Minister

The recent #EndBadGovernance protests inflicted a substantial economic toll on Nigeria, according to Industry, Trade and Investment Minister, Dr. Doris Uzoka Anite. In a social media post, she estimated the total cost of the protests at N500 billion.

The minister expressed deep sorrow over the loss of lives, with a confirmed death toll of 21. She also highlighted the destruction of goods worth N52 billion during the protests, emphasizing the negative impact on businesses and entrepreneurs nationwide.

She said: “The loss of lives during the protests is saddening. My thoughts are with the families affected. The looting, resulting in billions lost, is a severe setback for our economy and entrepreneurs. Let’s honour those we’ve lost by striving for more peaceful and constructive dialogue.”
