Scientists are expressing concern over a recent study that reveals a 25% increase in the average penis size worldwide over the past 29 years.
The findings, published in the World Journal of Men’s Health by researchers from Stanford University, are based on measurements from 55,000 men. The study shows that the average penis size has grown from 12.19 centimeters in 1992 to 15.34 centimeters in 2021.
Michael Eisenberg, the lead researcher, warns that this increase might not be entirely positive. The study suggests that sedentary lifestyles and exposure to hormone-disrupting substances could be contributing factors. Additionally, there is growing concern about the decline in sperm quality, which has decreased by 60% over the same period.
The research also highlights a rise in genital defects and tumors, alongside reduced sperm count and serum testosterone levels. The study calls for further investigation into the reasons behind the increase in penis size and its potential implications.
This study follows another recent finding that UK penises have increased in size by 9%, although the UK ranks 60th globally for penis length.
