Presidency Takes Charge of Super Eagles Coach Appointment

According to a recent report, the presidency has directed both the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) and the Sports Ministry to refrain from involvement in the appointment of a new head coach for the Super Eagles. The NFF has yet to make an announcement regarding this position for the three-time African champions.

Following Finidi George’s resignation, Augustine Eguavoen, the NFF’s technical director, has been appointed to manage the Super Eagles temporarily. He will oversee the team for the upcoming 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers against Benin Republic and Rwanda next month, until a permanent head coach is appointed.

A source within the NFF told Completesports: “The appointment of the new Super Eagles coach is now beyond the NFF and sports ministry. ”The presidency is now in control of the entire process and one can just hope they will take the right decision.”

The source added: “We don’t know whether they will consult the NFF or sports ministry before coming up with a final choice.”
