Bandits Abduct Police Officer as Soldier Escapes in Plateau

Bandits have kidnapped a mobile police officer in Plateau State, Nigeria. The incident occurred on Wednesday evening as the officer and a soldier were traveling from Zurak to Kampani in Wase Local Government Area.

While the soldier managed to escape the ambush, the police officer was taken captive by the armed criminals.

According to local sources, the two security personnel were part of a security team tasked with combating banditry in the region, including the areas of Bangalala, Kampani, and Zurak.

Sahapi Sambo, a youth leader in the area, confirmed the abduction. He said, “The two security personnel were on their way to join their colleagues in Kampani when they were attacked.” Sambo also highlighted the community’s ongoing struggle with banditry, emphasizing the need for increased security presence.

In response to the kidnapping, security forces, including soldiers, police, and vigilantes, launched a search operation to locate the bandits and rescue the abducted officer. The whereabouts of the kidnapped police officer remains unknown.
