Herdsman, Two Others in Court for Farm Destruction, Motorcycle Theft in Ekiti

A 20-year-old cattle rearer, Mohamadu Bello, has been arraigned before an Ado Ekiti Chief Magistrate’s Court for allegedly destroying farm produce worth N3.8 million belonging to four individuals.

The police prosecutor, Inspector Elijah Adejare, accused Bello of maliciously damaging farm produce belonging to Awiye Olusola (N300,000), Oni Samson (N2.8 million), Igbalajobi Adeyomi (N300,000), and Akinola Sunday (N400,000) on August 10 at Ido Ile Ekiti.

The prosecutor stated that the offense contravenes Section 363 of the Criminal Law of Ekiti State, 2021.

In a separate case before another Chief Magistrate Court in Ado Ekiti, two men, Hammed Abdulrasheed (22) and Abiodun Aluko (42), were arraigned for allegedly stealing a motorcycle.

Police prosecutor, Sergeant Alice Ojo, accused Abdulrasheed of stealing a Bajaj motorcycle valued at N1.2 million belonging to Ogundipe Babasanmi, while Aluko was alleged to be in possession of another Bajaj motorcycle valued at N1.2 million.

The offenses, according to the prosecutor, contravene Sections 302 and 343 of the Criminal Law of Ekiti State, 2021.

Both cases were adjourned to allow for case file study and witness presentation.

The defendants, represented by Mr. Adeyemi Egbebi, pleaded for bail, which was granted in both cases. Bello was granted bail in the sum of N80,000 with one surety, while Abdulrasheed and Aluko were granted bail in the sum of N250,000 each with one surety each.

The cases were adjourned to September 6 and September 27, respectively, for hearing.
