Anambra Commissioner for Youth Development, Patrick Aghamba, and his wife, Chizoba, were abducted on Friday in Ubiaja, Esan South-East Local Government Area of Edo State.
They were en route to Abuja for the wedding of Governor Chukwuma Soludo’s daughter, Adaora, which is scheduled for Saturday, August 17.
According to reports, the couple’s vehicle was ambushed by gunmen. Tragically, an aide to the commissioner, identified as Kpajie ABK Offiah, was killed during the attack.
Confirming the incident, the Anambra State Police Command spokesperson, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, stated that the State Commissioner of Police, CP Nnaghe Obono Itam, is aware of the situation.
Ikenga added, “We got the information and my Commissioner of Police, CP Nnaghe Obono Itam has escalated it. Every necessary assistance we can give from our command here, we will give, but I don’t have any information on that.”
