The National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) has uncovered an illegal operation producing alcoholic beverages in the Oke-Arin market area of Lagos Island.
According to a NAFDAC statement, surveillance led to the discovery of multiple packing stores converted into makeshift factories for producing and packaging various alcoholic drinks.
During the raid, over 2,000 cartons of empty bottles, packaged drinks, a mixing tank, and packaging materials were seized. Three suspect were arrested.



The statement reported: “During the raid, over 2,000 cartons of empty bottles and already packaged drinks were seized, along with a mini plastic mixing tank, an improvised filter, and various packaging materials.
“Three suspects, identified as Mr. Ikenna Daniel Ndeka, Mr. Innocent Chike, and Mr. Chukwu John, were arrested in connection with the illegal operation.”


The agency estimated the value of the seized items at N200 million and warned the public to be cautious when purchasing alcoholic beverages. An investigation is ongoing, with the suspects facing prosecution.
