Hon. Christopher Audu, the Transition Implementation Committee (TIC) Chairman of Qua’an Pan Local Government Area in Plateau State, is currently fighting for his life in a hospital in Jos after a violent attack during a PDP primary election on Thursday, August 15.
What initially began as a peaceful electoral process took a dangerous turn when Audu was declared the winner. According to an eyewitness, Michael Bulus, tensions escalated as some delegates and PDP members, who had been locked out of the election venue, forcefully gained entry and confronted the TIC Chairman.
“The mob beat up Hon. Audu mercilessly, accusing him of manipulating the process to emerge as the winner of the primaries,” Bulus told the Daily Trust.
Following the brutal assault, Audu was immediately evacuated from Ba’ap, the headquarters of Qua’an Pan LGA, to an undisclosed location for urgent medical care. Reports indicate that he sustained severe injuries.
The People’s Democratic Party (PDP) has yet to release an official statement regarding the incident.
