In a message posted on X (formerly Twitter), Aondona revealed that the group was kidnapped while en route to a convention in Enugu. The abductors are demanding a ransom of 50 million naira for their release.

Aondona’s message also highlighted the dire conditions the students are facing, noting that they have not eaten for two days and are at risk of being killed if the ransom is not paid.
