The relationship between British princes William and Harry has reached a new low, with the heir to the throne reportedly seeking to exclude his brother from his future coronation.
A Sunday Times article published on August 17 to mark Harry’s 40th birthday in September claimed that Prince William wants his crowning to “look and feel different” from previous ceremonies. Sources close to the Prince of Wales indicated that this difference could involve omitting his brother Harry from the guest list.
The brothers’ relationship has deteriorated significantly since Harry and his wife Meghan Markle stepped down as senior royals in 2020 and relocated to California. Subsequent revelations in their Oprah interview, Netflix docuseries, and Harry’s memoir, “Spare,” have exacerbated tensions within the royal family.
A friend of the brothers described their estrangement as “dreadfully sad,” revealing that they have not spoken in nearly two years. Concerns about potential future disclosures have further strained the relationship between Harry and his father, King Charles III.
While the King is reportedly eager to reconcile with his son, other members of the royal family are less forgiving. A friend of Charles described Harry’s actions as “outrageously disloyal” and questioned his ability to regain the family’s trust.
Despite the challenges, the friend expressed hope for eventual reconciliation, stating that the King’s capacity for forgiveness remains strong.
Amidst the family turmoil, Harry has faced criticism for lacking a clear purpose since leaving the UK. In a recent interview, he attributed the breakdown of his relationship with the royal family to their unwillingness to confront the press.
