The Edo State Police Command has arrested a couple for allegedly assaulting their eight-year-old maid, identified only as Precious, in Ikpoba Hill near Benin City, within the Ikpoba Okha Local Government Area.
The suspects, who are accused of inflicting injuries on Precious, are related to the wife, known as Mummy Gabriel, as the maid is her niece. The assault was reported to the Oregbeni Police Division, leading to the couple’s subsequent arrest.
Police spokesman Moses Joel Yamu confirmed the arrest, stating: “The command is in receipt of this incident. The victim is currently undergoing treatment while the investigation continues.”
