A member of the Hunters Association of Nigeria (HAN), Aliyu Yahaya, was brutally murdered, and his home was set ablaze by bandits in Magamar-Jibia town, Jibia Local Government Area of Katsina State. The bandits also abducted Aliyu’s wife and son, as well as three neighbors.
According to the deceased’s brother, Salisu Yahaya, the assailants stormed Aliyu’s home on Tuesday, August 13, 2024, overpowered and killed him before setting his body on fire inside his room.
The spokesperson of the State Police Command, ASP Abubakar Sadiq, confirmed the incident and stated that an investigation is ongoing to arrest the perpetrators and rescue the kidnapped victims.
The incident has caused widespread outrage among residents, who are calling on the government to take immediate action to address the worsening banditry in the area. The residents also appealed to the authorities to prioritize the rescue of the kidnapped victims to alleviate the trauma suffered by their families and the community.
A community leader, Alhaji Sani Salisu, blamed the attack on the absence of security personnel in the area and called for increased security presence to prevent future occurrences.
