Manchester City’s Phil Foden and Chelsea’s Cole Palmer were named the PFA Players’ Player of the Year and PFA Young Player of the Year, respectively, at the 51st anniversary awards event held in Salford, England, on August 20, 2024.
Foden, who scored a career-high 19 league goals and eight assists this season, also excelled in the Champions League. He beat off competition from teammates Erling Haaland and Rodri to clinch the top prize, with Arsenal’s Martin Odegaard, Chelsea’s Palmer, and Aston Villa’s Ollie Watkins rounding out the Top 6.
Palmer, who scored 22 goals and assisted 11 others in the Premier League, was a standout for Chelsea this season. His goal tally was second only to Erling Haaland.
In the women’s awards, Manchester City’s Khadija Shaw and Tottenham’s Grace Clinton were named the PFA Players’ Women’s Player of the Year and PFA Players’ Young Player of the Year, respectively.
The PFA also honored Dean Lewington and Fara Williams with Merit awards. Lewington, a defender for MK Dons, received the men’s award, while Williams, an England legend, was recognized for her 18-year career with the Lionesses.
