Niger State Acting Governor Condemns Bandit Attack That Left 13 Dead

Niger State Acting Governor, Comrade Yakubu Garba, has condemned the bandit attack on the Anguwan Mai-Giro community in the Rafi and Shiroro local government areas of the state, which resulted in the death of 13 individuals.

On Wednesday, August 21, 2024, heavily armed bandits targeted a mining site in the area, opening fire on the miners and causing significant casualties. According to Sahara Reporters, the terrorists found the miners at the site and left a trail of death.

In a statement issued by the Chief Press Secretary, Bologi Ibrahim, Acting Governor Garba described the attack as “satanic, insensible, atrocious, and callous.” He expressed deep dismay over the barbaric and vicious act committed by the attackers.

Garba extended his condolences to the affected families, community members, and the entire Shiroro local government area. He prayed for the repose of the souls of the deceased, comfort for their loved ones, and a speedy recovery for those injured.

The Acting Governor reaffirmed the Bago-led administration’s unwavering commitment to combating insecurity in the state. He urged the Security Agencies to remain resolute despite the attacks and assured them of full support in their efforts to overcome the criminals.

Jafar Abdulkarim
Isyaku Yahaya
Mubarak Isah
Sani Abubakar
Uba Goga
Suleiman Abubakar
Ibrahim Musa (Manbob)

Reports indicate that some of the victims were mercilessly murdered while trying to find food for their internally displaced families, with some body parts, including eyes, removed by the attackers.
