“Order War” Escalates: Nigerians Disrupt South African Services

Nigerians have launched a coordinated effort to disrupt South African businesses in response to a recent “order war” initiated by South Africans.

The conflict began when South Africans took to social media to boast about wasting Nigerian drivers’ time by placing and then canceling ride requests from their country.

In retaliation, Nigerian users have organized ride-hailing drivers to converge at specific locations, causing a surge in taxi fares in South Africa. This action has spread to other businesses, including restaurants that accept payment on arrival, as Nigerians aim to disrupt operations as a form of retaliation.

The “Request in Nigeria” challenge, where South Africans would request and book Uber and Bolt rides only to cancel them before the drivers arrived, has sparked outrage among Nigerians and some South Africans.

Many have condemned the prank as vile and cruel, accusing South Africans of xenophobic behavior.
