President Tinubu Promises Decisive Response to Savage Killing of Sokoto Monarch

President Bola Tinubu has expressed his condolences following the death of Isa Bawa, the head of Gatawa district in Sabon Birni LGA of Sokoto.

Bawa passed away on Tuesday after being held captive for three weeks.

In a statement released on Wednesday, Ajuri Ngelale, the president’s spokesperson, conveyed that Tinubu found “the savage attack on the traditional ruler deeply disturbing and a heinous act that will not go without a decisive response.” The President also condemned the tragic circumstances surrounding Bawa’s death.

Ngelale reported that “The President extends his profound condolences to the bereaved family, the Gobir Emirate, and the government of Sokoto State,” and that “The President prays for the repose of the soul of the traditional ruler and comfort to his family at this difficult time.”

Furthermore, Tinubu assured Nigerians that his administration “is aggressively removing threats to ensure the security of the nation and that these desperate acts of terror will be effectively countered.”
