Video Captures Moment Woman Nearly Has Hand Chewed Off by Tiger After Climbing Zoo Fence

A visitor to a New Jersey zoo is wanted by authorities after she jumped over the fence of a tiger exhibit to get close to one of the big cats, nearly losing her hand in the process.

On Tuesday, August 20, the Bridgeton, NJ, Police Department shared a video on Facebook showing the reckless woman at Cohanzick Zoo. In the video, she can be seen sticking her hand through the wire enclosure fence, offering it to the massive Siberian tiger.

After a moment of curious sniffing, the tiger suddenly lunges and tries to bite her hand, prompting the woman to jerk her hand back quickly. The video concludes with her hopping back over the approximately 4-foot high wooden fence.

The police department commented: “A female at the Cohanzick Zoo went over the wooden fence at the tiger enclosure and began enticing the tiger almost getting bit by putting her hand through the wire enclosure.”

They have released the video in the hopes that someone might recognize the woman and have urged the public to submit anonymous tips through their website.

They also reminded the public, “Reminder to the public when visiting the zoo, that it is against City Ordinance to climb over any fence.”
