Man Arrested for Threatening to Kill Donald Trump

Police in Arizona have captured Ronald Lee Syvrud, a 66-year-old man from Cochise County, who allegedly threatened to kill former U.S. President Donald Trump. This arrest comes after a manhunt that unfolded while Trump was visiting the U.S.-Mexico border in Cochise County, Arizona.

Syvrud, who had been posting death threats against Trump on social media over the past two weeks, also faces charges for failing to register as a sex offender. Additionally, he has outstanding warrants in both Wisconsin and Arizona for offenses including driving under the influence and felony hit-and-run.

Authorities reported that Syvrud, a resident of Benson, Arizona, located approximately 50 miles southeast of Tucson, was apprehended within the county without any incidents.

During Trump’s visit to the border on Thursday, August 22, he was asked by reporters about the ongoing search for Syvrud. Trump responded: “No, I have not heard that, but I am not that surprised and the reason is because I want to do things that are very bad for the bad guys.”

Trump served as President of the United States from January 2017 to January 2021.

This incident follows a similar situation earlier this month, when a 66-year-old man in Virginia was arrested for making death threats against U.S. Vice-President Kamala Harris, among other public officials.
