A bridge connecting the Eastern part of the country to the Northeast subregion has collapsed in Taraba State.
The bridge, known as ‘Namnnai Bridge,’ is situated along the Jalingo-Wukari route in Gassol Local Government Area.

According to the Daily Trust, the collapse occurred on Friday, August 23, 2024, as a result of heavy rainfall in the region. The intense downpour caused flooding along the road, which has now restricted vehicular movement.
Motorists traveling to Wukari, Abuja, Benue State, and the Eastern region are now required to reroute through Takum and Jos.

The Namnnai Bridge, which was built many years ago, had previously exhibited cracks, and despite various repairs carried out by the Federal government over the years, it was ultimately unable to withstand the recent conditions.
