Video: Women’s Football Game Erupts in Chaos as Players Throw Punches at Each Other

A women’s college football game in the United States erupted into chaos on Sunday, August 25, as two players clashed following a tackle.

During an afternoon match between Rutgers and UMass in Massachusetts, the incident occurred in the 55th minute when Rutgers’ Gia Girman fouled a UMass player from behind. In response, UMass player Ashley Lamond attempted to take a quick free kick, but she and Girman got tangled as Lamond tried to grab the ball.

The situation escalated when Lamond shoved Girman, leading to punches being thrown in both directions. Girman then threw Lamond to the ground and continued punching her while Lamond pulled on Girman’s hair in an ugly altercation.

Players from both teams rushed in to separate the two. Following the fight, both Girman and Lamond were sent off, leaving each team with 10 players for the remaining 35 minutes of the game.

UMass ultimately won the match 1-0, thanks to an 81st-minute goal by Bella Recinos.
