Gunmen have abducted Aribibia Fubara, a director of the Rivers State Board of Internal Revenue Service.
Fubara was taken by the gunmen, who arrived via the Okirika Waterfront in a speedboat and targeted the Marine Base area of Port Harcourt, the state capital.
The group, estimated to be about six in number, conducted the operation in a commando style. They fired shots indiscriminately into the air, quickly identified Fubara, and forcibly took him onto their boat before fleeing the scene.
The abductors have not yet made any contact with Fubara’s family.
State Police Command spokesperson, SP Grace Iringe-Koko, confirmed the incident and stated that an investigation is underway.
“Yes, the command is aware of the incident. The Commissioner of Police has ordered the deployment of all tactical units and alerted all area commanders to ensure he is rescued unhurt,” she said.
“Also, the CP has instructed them to ensure the suspects are apprehended and brought to justice.”
