Jigawa State Police Rescue Suspected Motorcycle Thief from Angry Mob

Operatives of the Jigawa State Police Command have rescued a suspected motorcycle thief from an angry mob in Kazaure Local Government Area.

According to a statement released by the command’s spokesperson, DSP Lawan Shiisu Adam, on Sunday, the suspect, Datti Idris, and an accomplice had stolen a motorcycle from the residence of Salisu Shafiu.

The statement described the incident, stating: “On 20/08/2024 at about 1000hrs, information from a liable source disclosed that angry mobs gathered at Barga Quarters in Kazaure LGA and started beating one suspect for the offence of theft of motorcycle.”

Responding to the report, the police team arrived at the scene and successfully rescued the suspect, identified as Datti Idris, a 42-year-old resident of Mu’azu village in Sule Tankarkar LGA.

During interrogation at the Kazaure Division, Idris revealed that he had conspired with an accomplice, Sardo (now at large), to break into Salisu Shafiu’s residential house in Laminga village, Kazaure LGA, on the same day at around 5:00 AM. The duo stole Shafiu’s red Bajaj motorcycle.

The suspect was taken to a hospital for treatment and subsequently charged to court for prosecution.
