UK Teacher Banned for Life After Sex with Pupil

A teacher at a boarding school in the United Kingdom has been permanently banned from the classroom after being convicted of having sex with a teenage pupil.

Luke Roberts, 44, was employed at the independent International School of Creative Arts in Wexham, Buckinghamshire. He was sentenced to ten months in prison after pleading guilty to two charges of engaging in sexual activity with a female pupil aged between 13 and 17.

Police discovered two videos on Roberts’ devices that depicted him engaging in sexually explicit behavior, including sexual intercourse with the pupil. Following this discovery, he was arrested by Thames Valley Police.

Roberts, who was absent from the hearing, expressed remorse for his actions and pleaded guilty in court.

The decision maker, David Oatley, determined that Roberts’ serious sexual misconduct warranted a lifetime ban from teaching.

The panel concluded that his actions had breached the public trust in the teaching profession, violated appropriate boundaries between teacher and pupil, and disregarded the need to safeguard the pupil’s well-being.
