Authorities in the United States have identified and charged a woman involved in a now-viral incident at the Cohanzick Zoo in Bridgeton, New Jersey.
The woman, 24-year-old Zyair Dennis, was caught on video climbing into a tiger enclosure, sparking widespread outrage online.
Dennis is accused not only of entering the tiger’s enclosure but also of trespassing into a bear paddock within the zoo. The footage, which circulated widely on social media last week, shows Dennis dangerously close to the tiger, narrowly avoiding a potentially deadly encounter.
Bridgeton Police quickly launched an investigation to identify her, as her actions violated a city ordinance prohibiting climbing over or on any zoo fence—an act that also defied common sense.
The police investigation revealed that Dennis had previously entered a bear enclosure at the same zoo, marking this as not her first offense. Consequently, she has been charged with trespassing and received two citations for general misconduct.
The incident has drawn significant attention, with many highlighting the potential dangers of such reckless behavior.
Despite being in captivity, these animals remain formidable predators capable of causing serious harm. Dennis’s actions could have led to far more serious consequences for both herself and the animals involved.
