Seven Arrested in Connection with Murder of Kwara State Graduate Mojisola Awesu

The Kwara State Police Command has apprehended seven suspects connected to the murder of Mojisola Awesu, a 21-year-old graduate of the Kwara State College of Health Technology.

Mojisola was killed in a hotel, and her body was discarded at a refuse site. She had been lured to Ilorin by Adebayo Happiness, a dismissed student from Summit University, Offa, who had offered her N15,000 to pose as his girlfriend at a party.

Mojisola had graduated from the college just three weeks before her death. On Friday, August 30, the State Commissioner of Police, CP Victor Olaiya, presented some of the suspects at the command headquarters in Ilorin.

The arrested individuals include Adebayo Happiness, his parents Pastor Adebayo Adeniyi and Mrs. Bukola Adeniyi, Miss Kolawola Timileyin (who facilitated the connection between Mojisola and Happiness), and three hotel employees where the crime took place: Adeoye Adeola, Lawal Amina, and Bulus Peter.

CP Olaiya detailed that the prime suspect, Adebayo Happiness, had returned to Offa and hid the stolen phone in his hostel wardrobe.

The police conducted a meticulous investigation that led to the apprehension of Mr. and Mrs. Adebayo Adeniyi, the suspect’s parents. Following their son’s arrest, they were found to have tampered with evidence by retrieving Adebayo Happiness’ belongings from his school. Furthermore, Mrs. Bukola Adeniyi had removed the SIM card from Mojisola’s iPhone and concealed it within a wall located some distance from their home.
