Abducted Kogi Journalist’s Wife and Daughters Regain Freedom After Two Weeks

The family of Kogi-based journalist Mohammed Bashir and nine others, who were kidnapped two weeks ago in Kaduna State, have been released.

In August 2024, Bashir’s wife, Aminat Shana, and their two daughters, Aisha and Hajara, along with other family members, were abducted.

Mohammed Bashir, a correspondent with Nigeria Telegraph, confirmed their release in a statement issued on Saturday, August 31, 2024. He did not reveal whether a ransom was paid to secure their freedom.

Bashir expressed his gratitude in his statement: “My dear Colleagues, I wish to thank you all for your prayers and concern. My family and other family members kidnapped three weeks ago in Kaduna have finally been released. I am most grateful for your show of love; I pray such will never happen to any of us, our family, and relations. Thank you once again.”

The other released family members include Aisha Saba Khadija, Haruna, Adamu Haruna, Muhammad Abubakar, Asmau Abubakar, Usman Abubakar, Muhammad Abubakar, and Hauwa Muhammad.
