Wike Accuses PDP Governors of Loving Tinubu at Night but Criticizing Him During the Day

Nyesom Wike, Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), has accused several governors within the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) of being duplicitous in their dealings with President Bola Tinubu.

Wike alleges that these governors offer private support to the president while publicly adopting a different stance.

Speaking at the PDP state congress held at the party’s Secretariat in Port Harcourt on Saturday, August 31, Wike criticized the inconsistent behavior of some PDP governors. He remarked, “They love the president at night but say a different thing during the day.”

Wike also addressed his controversial decision to oppose the PDP during the last presidential election. He clarified that his opposition stemmed from what he saw as the party’s failure to uphold principles of justice, fairness, and equity.

He stated: “I didn’t hide it in 2023 when I said I would not support PDP for the presidential election. I said I wouldn’t support PDP because it refused to allow equity, fairness, and justice. So, I have no regrets.

“When Buhari was in office, you never saw me play both sides; I never visited the Villa at night only to come out during the day to criticize. Some of them now love the president at night but say different things during the day.

“Be a person of character, stand firm so that people will know who you are. I hear some people saying we are supporting someone else; why wouldn’t we support him?

“We defeated your candidates; tell us who was your candidate in 2023? They all lost, yet they are not ashamed to want to reap where they did not sow. An armed robber is an armed robber any day, any time.”
