A 17-year-old Italian boy has killed his parents and younger brother in a violent knife attack, just hours after celebrating his father’s 51st birthday.
The teen, from Paderno Dugnano near Milan, confessed to the murders on Sunday, telling investigators, “There is no real reason why I killed them. I felt like a foreign body in my family. Oppressed. I thought that by killing them all I would free myself from this discomfort.”
Initially, the boy told authorities a false story, claiming he saw his father, Fabio Chiarioni, 51, kill his mother, Daniela Albano, 49, and his 12-year-old brother before he attacked his father. He later admitted he had felt “discomfort” in his family, which led to the killings shortly after the birthday celebration.
The boy explained he had been planning the murders “for a while.” Around 2 a.m. on Sunday, he used a large kitchen knife to stab his brother at least ten times, then attacked his parents, who were in the same room. His younger brother had the most stab wounds.
After the murders, the boy called emergency services, telling them: “I killed my dad, come.” When police arrived, they found him outside in his underwear, covered in blood, and holding the bloody knife, which he dropped when authorities arrived.

The police found the bodies of the boy’s parents and brother in the brother’s room, all in their nightwear. The boy later told investigators, “I realized it a minute later. I understood that it was not by killing them that I would be freed.”
The boy has been arrested and questioned by Milan juvenile prosecutor Sabrina Ditaranto. Judicial sources have not yet determined the motive behind the killings.
Ditaranto stated: “The boy understood that he had done something irreversible. He expressed his own discomfort, not related to the family. From a judicial point of view, we do not have a technically valid motive. From a sociological and psychological point of view, the investigations are ongoing.”
