Two brothers are accused of kidnapping and raping a 14-year-old girl in the Erima community, Ogba/Egbema/Ndoni Local Government Area of Rivers State.
According to reports, the girl was sent by her mother to her older brother’s house. On her way, the suspects, Honest and Okwukwe, allegedly abducted her on a secluded path and took her to a house where they took turns raping her.
The crime was discovered when the girl’s mother realized she hadn’t arrived at her brother’s house and raised an alarm. Local vigilantes then searched for her and found her in the house where the assault had occurred.
The older brother has been arrested and is in custody at the Egi Police Division Headquarters in Obite, Ogba/Egbema/Ndoni LGA. The younger brother has fled and is currently missing.
SP Grace Iringe-Koko, spokesperson for the state police command, confirmed the incident. She stated that an investigation is underway and efforts are being made to apprehend the younger brother.
According to her, “the suspects will be prosecuted fully under the law.”
